OOPS WOW
Upcoming Sessions & Events
As well the events listed below, I run occasional sessions for groups, schools and other organisations. I run an art club at a cool school, I'm one of the regular facilitators at Bridport Community Shed sessions for young people (11-18yr olds) and I pop into Bridport Youth Club about once a month to do a bit of art with the juniors.
If you would like information about public events to arrive in your inbox, email me and I will add you to my mailing list. If you would like me to run a session for you, please get in touch too.

Drawing Dance Workshop
Tuesday 15th April 10 - 4pm
Tithe Barn, Symondsbury Estate, DT6 6HG
Cost £75 all materials & refreshments included
Brought to you by the very exciting and brand new Bridport Dance Festival happening 23rd & 24th May. Check out their website for all the info.
This one day workshop is an opportunity to spend a day drawing dancers dancing in the beautiful barn at The Symondsbury Estate, just outside Bridport. This one is for grown ups only.
Artist Jo Burlington (that's me) will lead a day of experimental dynamic and expressive drawing, attempting to capture the movement, energy and gestures of the dancers. This workshop is good for all levels, from complete beginners to practicing artists; capturing movement is one of the more challenging things to do in drawing, we can but try and play and have fun with it.
Jo trained at The Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art, and has been exploring drawing for over 20 years. She has been collaborating with dancers for the last few years and is known locally for facilitating playful, accessible, non-judgemental and no-fail workshops. You can find out more about Jo on her website www.joburlington.co.uk
The workshop will start at 10am and we will be finished by 4pm. Materials (paper, charcoal, ink, easels, boards, tables) are included, however feel free to bring along any of your favourite things. Refreshments are also included.
As lunch is not included in the price, you are encouraged to book lunch at the Symondsbury Kitchen or bring a packed lunch to eat in the beautiful grounds.
We will be using charcoal and ink, so there is a high chance that you will get messy, so please don't wear your best clothes.
The cost for the day is £75. Places are limited and booking is required. Please follow the link to book HERE, or call Bridport Tourist Information Centre on 01308 424901

Drawing Club is for kids who are wanting to learn how to draw. For kids who have reached the stage where they want their drawings to look like what they are looking at, to look realistic... observational drawing.
This generally starts happening at around 9 or 10 years old - it's a brain development thing. It's really really hard, it's a life long journey, most people give up pretty quickly, including many artists. I love to draw, and I would love to teach any of your kids that are wanting to learn.
It will be quite different from my usual big whole body fun oops wow sessions, which are basically training for learning how to draw too. This will be a small calm and focussed group.
